The "America First" slogan has no place at the roundtable of multilateralism, while the Trump administration has been nagging others to "like it or lump it," and meanwhile, threatening withdrawals from multilateral mechanisms.
The United States, while having at least 20 laws on national security and sovereignty itself, has rampantly slandered and maligned China's national security legislation for Hong Kong, taking double standards and hypocrisy to the extreme.
The U.S. purpose is to destabilize the South China Sea, and hijack regional countries onto its chariot to serve U.S. domestic politics and geopolitical agenda, Wang noted, urging all regional countries to be vigilant, and prevent this region's hard-won peace and development from being sabotaged by the United States.
"If China-U.S. cooperation were unfair and not reciprocal, how could it have continued for several decades? How could China-U.S. ties have come such a long way?" Wang asked.
The United States needs to stop interference in China's internal affairs as soon as possible, adhere to the principle of mutual respect, and return to constructive dialogue on an equal basis. When responding to a query about whether the moves are countermeasures against earlier announcements by the two countries to suspend relevant extradition agreements with Hong Kong, Zhao said Germany's unilateral announcement of suspending the agreement and France's halt of the ratification of the agreement have politicized judicial cooperation with Hong Kong, interfered in China's internal affairs and violated international laws and basic norms governing international relations. "China is firmly opposed to such practices," said Zhao.
Meanwhile, Sun Jie, director of China Cultural Center in Fiji, said the center has played a very important role in promoting cultural exchanges between China and Fiji over the past years.
"The root cause is that some American politicians who are biased against and hostile to China are using their power to smear China with fabrications and impede normal ties with China under various pretexts," said Wang, pointing out that such American politicians ultimately want to drag China and the United States into renewed conflict and confrontation and plunge the world into chaos and division again.
"The signing of a political declaration on 5G security between Slovenian Foreign Minister Logar and U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo does not follow Slovenia's interests. There is even a possibility that signing of this political statement would become legally binding for Slovenia, as a unilateral legal transaction," Brglez said.
Wang said that China-U.S. relations are facing the gravest challenge since the establishment of diplomatic ties, and their exchanges and cooperation in many areas are being seriously disrupted.
